Day 2!!

So today we started off with a walking tour at Piazza del Anunziata then Piazza del San Marco and the Duomo. So the professor was saying how the bronze doors told the story of John the Baptist but we can go see the more famous doors by Lirenzo Ghiberti on the other side on our own time. I turned around to answer, but the class was nowhere in sight, me steph and hyunjoo were like.. WTF they were RIGHT HERE... so we walked another block-ish to see if we could find them, nope, so we detoured back to take picture =P hehe... (idk how we got lost from a 20ish size group, takes talent i guess ^^)

one of the buildings in the Piazza dell Annunziata

The Equestrian Rider

The place where people abandoned their babies =[ its supposed to be a wheel thing and the nuns picks up the baby from inside the convent! In Rome, they have these heated incubators with pressure sensors, and people can abandon their babies at these incubators and the hospital ER will pick up the babies

The vault of one of the buildings

The fountain:
(So there was a random biker who just stopped in front of it, and he jumped over the fence to pick up coins from the fountain! kinda freaky, it was FREEZING cold today)
There was this really serene feeling from standing next to this fountain, hearing the dripping of the water and the church bells in the distance, had that real homey feel of italy =P just some aside... keke..

The hospital turned school (Institute of the Innocenti - the one that took in abandoned babies mentioned above)

close up of the school decorations!

The first Medici dwellings and the art history teacher who guided the tour =P

the beautiful streets of florence

JOURNEY to FLORENCE, ITALY!

People: Me and Stephanie!!

We took Alitalia from JFK to Milan to Florence!

Landed at around 12pm and went to dorm to drop our stuff off =P Italians have this thing about conserving energy and water, so all the hallway/stairway lights are motion sensor! The school is madd paranoid, we have to lock each floor and our rooms at all times, so we have to carry around 3 keys >.< the keys look really cool tho, its like antique style-ish =P

our bedroom

our workstation =P

the kitchen down the hall .. dood EVERYTHING is from IKEA... from the desk lamps, beds, and linen  to the dishwasher, cups and sofa >.<

After unpacking and all, we took a short nap=P cause we were still jetlagged and staying up on the plane ride doing hw was not such a great idea, besides i pulled an all-nighter day before that, so MADD TIRED!! Then, we went to the welcome dinner at restaurant with fellow nurses =P
(HyunJoo, my third roomie, and Stephanie)

we had 2 delicious entrees (ravioli and a chicken wrapped around mushrooms)

then comes DESSERT!! YUMMY =P
